Gulf Cement Company Welcomes the Islamic New Year 1448 AH

Gulf Cement Company welcomed the Islamic New Year 1448 AH with a gathering at its offices on 16 June 2026, bringing colleagues together to mark the beginning of the Hijri year.

The reception area was arranged for the occasion with Arabic calligraphy carrying New Year greetings, seasonal floral displays, and traditional refreshments. Colleagues gathered over Arabic coffee, dates, and sweets, with the company distributing treats to employees throughout the day.

A short presentation shown during the gathering traced the origins of the Hijri calendar itself, recalling how it was established during the era of Caliph Umar ibn Al-Khattab, taking the Prophet Muhammad's ﷺ migration from Makkah to Madinah as its starting point. More than a system of dating, the Hijri calendar marks a moment of renewal and new beginning — a theme that continues to give the occasion its meaning.

The gathering drew participation from across the company, with colleagues from the plant, technical departments, and administrative offices joining together. The multinational character of the Gulf Cement Company workforce makes occasions of this kind an opportunity for shared celebration and mutual understanding, and the company marks the significant dates of the UAE's national and religious calendar throughout the year.

Gulf Cement Company extends its warmest wishes to employees, partners, customers, and their families on the occasion of the Islamic New Year, and hopes the year ahead brings health, prosperity, and success to all.
