Gulf Cement Company Marks World Environment Day with Tree Planting Initiative
Employees from across Gulf Cement Company gathered at the company's Khor Khwair site on Friday, 5 June 2026 to mark World Environment Day, joining together for a tree planting initiative that brought together management, engineers, plant operators, and administrative staff.
The morning began at the main entrance of the head office, where colleagues assembled before moving out to the planting areas. Members of senior management took part directly alongside the workforce — among them Chief Executive Officer Mr. José B. Sena and Senior Vice President Mr. Mohammed Ahmed A.E. Ebrahimouh Al Shehhi — planting saplings across the company's grounds in a shared activity that drew participation from every level of the organisation.
World Environment Day, observed globally each year on 5 June, calls attention to the collective responsibility of protecting natural systems. For an industrial producer, that responsibility extends well beyond a single day. Gulf Cement Company operates under the guiding commitment of "Clean Industry, Sustainable Environment," a principle reflected in its emissions management, resource efficiency programmes, and ongoing investment in cleaner production practices.
The tree planting activity was deliberately hands-on. Rather than a ceremonial gesture, it put shovels in the hands of colleagues from the plant, the offices, and the leadership team, planting alongside one another across the site. The resulting group photograph, taken in front of the production facility, captured the scale of participation.
"Through meaningful participation and collective action, we continue to support initiatives that contribute to a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future for generations to come," the company said in marking the occasion.
Initiatives of this kind connect the company's broader environmental commitments to the daily working life of its people. Cement production is an energy-intensive industry, and the sector's transition toward lower environmental impact depends on sustained technical investment as much as on awareness. Both matter, and both require the involvement of the full workforce.
Gulf Cement Company thanks every colleague who took part in the initiative. Together, we make a difference.
