Our History

Gulf Cement Company was established as public shareholding company in Ras Al Khaimah Emirate located the north of United Arab Emirates after the authorized approval under the royal decree issued by the ruler of Ras Al Khaimah no 77/24 in 31-May-1977 and licenses number 2202 issued in 7 April 1978 from the Department of Economic Development in Ras Al Khaimah.The factory was officially inaugurated on 28 April 1982 after construction in record time with production capacity exceeded one million tons annually, it was the largest factory to produce clinker in United Arab Emirates, and  amongst the whole gulf region at that time. In order to retain the policy of the company in leadership and development in industry and due to the increasing in cement demands, the company has established a second production line in 2006 with production capacity of 2.5 million ton annually and with that the total production capacity of the company has reached 3.8 million tons of clinker per anum.

Gulf Cement Company was established in 1977 and began production in 1982 when officially inaugurated on 28 April 1982 by His Highness Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah.

Gulf Cement Company began production in 1982 with a capacity of one million tons per annum, powered by advanced Japanese technology.

1994

Installed and brought into operation a Frame 5 industrial gas turbine in 1994, delivering 27.25 MW under ISO conditions.

1998

2000

Gulf Cement Company became the first in the region to construct a dome silo for clinker storage in the year 2000, setting a new benchmark in capacity, efficiency, and industry innovation.

2005

In 2005, we elevated our cement grinding capabilities with a European-engineered mill, enhancing production to 2 million tons per year. A milestone driven by foresight, built for consistency, and designed to meet the demands of a growing world.

2006

Our German-technology kiln, commissioned in 2006, delivers 2.4 million tons with advanced bag filter technology (<5 mg/Nm³ emissions)—enabling Gulf Cement to reach a total capacity of up to 3.4 million tons annually.

2013

Gulf Cement Company leads the UAE as the first to implement large-scale Waste Heat Recovery technology — producing up to 35.5 MW of electricity while reducing 200,000 MT of CO₂ annually. A major milestone in our journey toward operational excellence and environmental stewardship.

2016

In 2016, Gulf Cement Company evolved its brand identity to align with our growing commitment to sustainability and clean industry leadership. This transformation marked a significant milestone—reflecting our focus on environmentally responsible operations, innovation in energy efficiency, and a stronger dedication to protecting the communities and environment in which we operate.

2023

In 2023, Gulf Cement Company strengthened its sustainability leadership by achieving Ecolabel environmental sustainability standards. This accomplishment reflects our dedication to reducing environmental impact, meeting recognized performance benchmarks, and supporting cleaner, more responsible industrial practices across our operations.

2024

In 2024, Gulf Cement Company was proud to be named a winner of the ICV Excellence Awards in the Private Sector Manufacturers category. This achievement highlights our commitment to strengthening local supply chains, supporting national development, and delivering high-performing industrial operations aligned with the UAE’s In-Country Value (ICV) program.

2025

In 2025, Gulf Cement Company joined the Buzzi Group, one of the world’s leading cement and building materials groups. This milestone represents a strategic step forward—strengthening our capabilities through global best practices, advanced expertise, and a shared commitment to quality, efficiency, and sustainable growth.
