History & Facts

Founded in 1977 and operational since 1982, Gulf Cement Company has grown into one of the UAE’s most established industrial leaders. Officially inaugurated on 28 April 1982 by His Highness Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Gulf Cement today stands as the second-largest single-stream cement manufacturer in the UAE and a leading regional exporter.

With an installed capacity of 3.4 million tons of clinker and 2 million tons of cement annually, we deliver products that meet the highest global standards—supported by an integrated management system certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001, along with product certifications from key authorities including Dubai Municipality, the Abu Dhabi Quality Council, and Kuwait’s regulatory bodies.

The company has consistently sought out and adopted the most advanced technologies worldwide since its establishment. In the 1990s, Gulf Cement Company became the first in the region to introduce the high-efficiency bag filter house technology from the American firm M/s Fuller Inc., replacing the traditional ESP system and setting a new benchmark for environmental performance and operational efficiency. We also pioneered clinker storage innovation in the UAE by introducing advanced American dome silo technology, and today operate one of the largest clinker storage facilities in the world.

Gulf Cement products have contributed to landmark projects such as the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Burj Khalifa, Dubai Airport Terminal 3, Dubai Metro, and the Kuwait New International Airport Expansion. With a strong footprint across the Middle East and ongoing export activity, we continue to build on our legacy through quality, innovation, and responsible industrial growth.

Modern Clinker Storage Technology

The first company in the United Arab Emirates to introduce advanced American technology for constructing a dome silo for clinker storage, Gulf Cement Company now operates one of the largest clinker storage facilities in the world.

Technologies for Waste Heat Recovery

The company has successfully developed the largest single-site unit for generating electric power from waste heat produced by its production lines. This achievement represents a strategically important milestone—both environmentally and economically—as it supports our commitment to sustainability and strengthens our ongoing efforts to preserve a clean and efficient operating environment.

Alternative Fuel

We operate with clarity, efficiency, and a forward-looking mindset—driven by the ambition of our leadership and the professionalism and dedication of our employees. Always proactive in seizing new opportunities, we embarked on major advancements as early as 1998 by importing and utilizing heavy fuel oil (1000 CST viscosity), which required specialized processing and high-temperature transport. Over the years, we expanded to additional liquid fuels, including 600 CST, 380 CST, and 180 CST, as well as petcoke. Today, we continue to strengthen our energy strategy by working toward the introduction of advanced alternative fuels.
